Philosophy

The rose of Jericho is a resurrection plant. In drought it draws its fronds inward, curls into a dry brown ball, and waits.

It does not bloom. It does not grow. It holds what it has, and it loses nothing.

The plant in drought: fronds curled tightly inward into a dry tan and brown ball.
Resting
The plant waking: fronds standing upright, half tan and half green.
Waking
The plant greening: an open radial rosette of green fronds around a brown centre.
Greening
The plant unfurled: the open green rosette carrying small pale blossoms.
Bloom

The rose of Jericho dries up...

Then it is watered.

The fronds unfold. The plant greens from the centre outward, and the small pale blossoms return. Nothing had to be rebuilt, because nothing was lost.

It can do this again and again, through as many dry seasons as come. The curling and the opening are the same life, in two conditions.

No streaks

Your progress is not erased by rest.

Growth is never lost

What you have recorded stays recorded. Progress does not roll back.

Untracked days are neutral

A day with no entry is a day with no entry. It is not a failure and it is not counted against you.

Returning is reviving

Come back after a week or after a year. You continue from where you were, not from zero.

Faith

To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.

Isaiah 61:3
